Learn Lifesaving CPR Skills at Free Hands-On Training Event in Brick Township
Brick, NJ – June 10, 2025 – Seconds matter in a life-threatening emergency. Whether someone is choking, not breathing, or suffering cardiac arrest, knowing what to do can mean the difference between life and death. That’s why Hands On CPR Training, in partnership with the Ocean County Library Brick Branch, is offering a free community CPR workshop on Tuesday, June 10 at 6:30 PM.
Led by Cherie Garrison Horhay, a certified instructor and the owner of Hands On CPR Training, this workshop offers a valuable opportunity to learn CPR and choking-relief techniques for adults, children, and infants. Participants will also be introduced to the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)—a device that can restore a heartbeat when seconds count.
About the Workshop
The course is video-guided and includes hands-on practice with CPR manikins, following the latest guidelines from the American Heart Association (AHA). While this is not a formal certification course, each attendee will receive a course manual and a participation card, making it a great introduction for parents, caregivers, teachers, and community members who want to be prepared in an emergency.

Why It Matters
Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death in the U.S., and bystander CPR can double or even triple survival rates. Unfortunately, many people don’t feel confident stepping in during an emergency. Events like this give everyday citizens the knowledge and confidence to take action when it matters most.
If you’re looking to refresh your skills or learn for the first time, this free session is a great place to start. For a full list of upcoming programs at the Ocean County Library, visit the online calendar.
